Indonesian Center for Agricultural Research and Development (ICAERD) is one of the institution under the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD). The center was set up according the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) Decree No. 403/Kpts/OT.210/6/2002 dated June 28, 2002. The ICAERD was nationally mandated as technical implementers in the field of research and development of agricultural engineering under and responsible to the Head of IAARD. In carrying out its mandate ICAERD refers to the MoA Year Strategic Plan 2010 - 2014 which is a reference and direction of agricultural development to reposition agriculture as a driving force of national development through the achievement of four main targets of agricultural development in the future, namely: (1) achieving self-sufficiency and sustainable self-sufficiency, (2) increasing diversification of food, (3) an increase in added value, competitiveness and exports, and (4) improving the welfare of farmers.

 On May 2nd, 2011, Indonesian Center for Agricultural Engineering Research and Development (ICAERD) welcomed a visit of students majoring in the field study of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The groups consisted of 44 students that were accompanied by three lecturers.

In order to sustain food security in the self-sufficient rice program, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has announced a program as called the National Rice Production Elevation (P2BN) through several strategic activities, such as: increase rice productivity, rice-land area escalation, rice post harvest handling, empowering farmers group and financial assistance.
In line with the program mentioned above the Minister has launched the Open House Program for First Cropping Season of 2011 in Center for Paddy Crop Research Development at February 23, 2011 in Sukamandi.
